OpenVISP Admin is web interface to update SQL database that handle industrial grade hosting systems. It is at the start a fork of Postfix Admin, to manage mail data, but we added a lots of new features so it is far more complete than Postfix Admin is.

We can say that OpenVISP Admin is looking like Plesk or ISPadmin in terms of features than Postfix Admin. Also OpenVISP Admin has some specials features that can used for central location of for usefull things.

All features of Postfix Admin are there and some more :

• Quota enforcement
• Domain aliases (mostly done using OpenLDAP BackPerl)
• Antivirus configuration and checking using Amavisd-new
• Antispam configuration and checking using Amavisd-new
• Sender / Domain verification
• Greylisting using Policyd excellent greylisting deamin for Postfix
• Transport values where domain is backup MX
• One login entry for every people (administrator, end user, …)
• Rights are now handled, people can administrate some domains, and some mailboxes
• Nice PDF sheet can be written and printed also (but not automaticaly yet !), for user that forgot their mail configuration.
• On delivery filters using Lmtpd from Laurent Wacrenier. This can maybe be adapted without any pain to Sieve filters on Dovecot for example.
• lots of others things …

Using mod_vhs for Apache 2 or VHS on Caudium Webserver, you can now :

• Set web services
• Set PHP options (only for mod_vhs)
• Set ftp accounts for upload webpages

Database Management

• MySQL users and databases rights delegation (Actually only creation)

FTP Account Management

• Ftp Account are stored in the database through OpenVispAdmin (actually only pureftpd is supported).

OpenVISP Admin can handle some basic datacenter things that are usefull for small company or non profit organisation that are hosting machines for third party users. Things handled are :

• Request for human support
  • Ask for a manual reboot
  • Ask for LED and/or activity of the machine status
  • Ask for plug in a screen and describe what is written on the screen
  • Ping the machine
  • Other with some box to specify free text
• Request for a people to go into the site where is located the server with date, time and who will be on site
• APC Masterswitch provisionning and restricted acces to the outlet where is located the server or one customer, with graphical status of the outlet. Models supported :

APC Masterswitch is a bit tricky because APC likes to change all the time the way to get access to outlet… (little rant agains APC : please stop changing OID on every model… this make me crazy !).

Because it is more easy to download a file than use CVS over SSH there is snapshots. You can find then at ftp://ftp.oav.net/openvisp-admin/snapshots/.

Notice we don't yet have released one complete version because the developpement is still not yet finished (for us !) and snapshots are the better way to give correct, up to date version.

You can see the ChangeLog of the developpers are doing. Usefull to see if there is some new features or fixes.
